James A. Field is a founding member of Field and Goldberg, LLC, and is the partner overseeing the real estate tax group. Jim has handled tax appeals for numerous high profile commercial and industrial properties, apartment buildings, cooperatives, and premier condominium associations throughout his career.
Practice Areas
Throughout his career, Jim has represented hundreds of condominium buildings ranging from large associations, such as The John Hancock Building, Lake Point Tower, 9 West Walton, One Bennet Park, and The Fordham to numerous small associations and loft buildings. Jim has represented condominium developments both before conversion and after conversion and is thus aware of the real estate tax issues confronting new associations.
Additionally, Jim has been actively involved in all aspects of the de-conversion of numerous condominium buildings. Our persistent, creative representation of tax clients has allowed us to successfully represent numerous taxpayers at the Assessor’s Office, the Board of Review, State of Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board, and Circuit Court.
Jim also has substantial expertise in the area of complex real estate transactions. Jim has structured numerous real estate transactions for developers and institutional lenders, ranging from shopping centers and office buildings to residential complexes.
