The Cook County Assessor Has Begun Releasing 2025 Assessments

The Cook County Assessor’s Office has started releasing the 2025 proposed assessments. This means it is time to start thinking about 2025 property tax appeals.

For north suburban properties, 2025 is a reassessment year. Taxpayers who own or lease properties in the northern suburbs can expect to receive a reassessment notice from the Assessor’s Office beginning in late March and continuing through the fall, depending on the township your property is located in. For south suburban properties and properties located in Chicago, 2025 is not a reassessment year. Therefore, taxpayers who own or lease properties in the south suburbs or Chicago should not expect a reassessment for 2025 unless special circumstances apply such as new construction or one year assessment relief. Although south suburban and Chicago properties will not be reassessed this year, you can still file a 2025 property tax appeal.
